A Lake Wales, Fla., homeowner shot a suspected intruder shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.
W.F.L.A. reported The homeowner awoke to the sound of a dog barking and discovered that the suspected intruder, 34-year-old Cameron McGuire, had entered the home.
fox 13 noticed The homeowner noticed that McGuire allegedly kept “some of the children's belongings inside the home.”
The homeowner told McGuire to “freeze,” but McGuire continued walking towards the homeowner, at which point the homeowner fired, striking McGuire in the leg.
“This homeowner was a law-abiding citizen who had every right to protect his family,” Lake Wales Police Chief Chris Velazquez said of the incident. He should be grateful to be here. I hope this was a wake-up call for him.”
McGuire was released from a Florida prison in February and has a “significant criminal history.”
