Homeowner shoots alleged intruder while on 911 call telling authorities break-in was in progress

A Virginia homeowner shot and killed a suspected intruder early Wednesday while calling 911 to tell authorities there was a break-in in progress. WUSA-TV reported.

According to Fairfax County Police, an individual in the 6400 block of Oakwood Drive called 911 just before 2:30 a.m. to report someone trying to break into a home near Barcroft Lake in the Falls Church area.

'Extraordinary. Please reward the owner of the house. ”

While officers were on the scene, the homeowner continued to call 911 because the man continued to try to break into the home, police said.

Police told WUSA that the homeowner then shot and killed the man.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times in the upper body, police said, adding that the man was taken to a hospital with “life-threatening injuries.”

According to WUSA, no one inside the house was harmed.

Investigators added that the unnamed suspect assaulted someone at a nearby home before the shooting. Police said the victim suffered “non-life-threatening” injuries, WUSA reported.

The department announced that no criminal charges had been filed as of Wednesday night. A criminal investigation is ongoing.
