WNBA player Paige Bueckers is always traveling as part of her profession. So, cherishing time with family during the holidays becomes even more significant. She enjoys unwinding with her closest friends, diving into board games, indulging in Snickers salad, and bringing in some festive cheer. Here, the 6-foot guard shares her cherished Christmas traditions and latest hair trends.
After being the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and snagging the Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year award in September, you’re set to debut with the Breeze BC Miami team in the Unrivaled League on January 5th. How do you feel about playing 3-on-3 basketball?
I really enjoy playing basketball in any format. This new chance is quite thrilling, especially since the WNBA offseason feels so drawn out. We have a vibrant young team, and I’m eager to play alongside them.
Having grown up in Minnesota, do you have a favorite holiday tradition or dish?
I’m really looking forward to family time over the holidays. Decorating the Christmas tree together and engaging in plenty of board games is a must. Our favorites include Skyjo, Uno, Sorry!, and Yahtzee. I also like to watch holiday movies—“Elf” is definitely at the top of my list.
As for food, I’m a fan of dishes like creamed corn, mashed potatoes, Snickers salad, and honey ham. I may not cook, but I believe I could manage it if needed.
What would you say is the best holiday gift you’ve given or received?
My dad and his girlfriend surprised me with a foot massager for Christmas. It’s by Cloud Massage, and it’s been a lifesaver for my recovery after tearing my ACL before my junior year. I still use it to help with recovery.
You’re known for changing your hair color often. Can you share your recent transformation?
I’m really into this pink ombre style I created using Madison Reed ColorWonder’s demi-permanent color called “Pink Orchid.” It has some blonde peeking through, which makes it playful yet still feels like me. I haven’t really changed my makeup or style that much—except maybe incorporating a bit more pink, which has always been a favorite of mine.
How do you prepare for the holiday season?
I’m opting for a more natural appearance, but I do like to add a bit of shine. A touch of powder, foundation, mascara, and a nice perfume does the trick.
