Shoppers beware: pervert in aisle 3.
On Monday, a horrifying video was released showing the moment an elementary school volunteer at a North Carolina Target uses his cell phone to shoot up a woman’s skirt.
Thomas Elliott, 21, a volunteer at Eastern Elementary School, was seen pointing a camera under the skirts of unsuspecting shoppers at a store in Greenville. WITN reported.
Another shopper who recorded the incident said: “No matter how much you try to prepare, when it actually happens, it’s kind of like a failure.”
She said she captured the shocking video after noticing a creepy man following her around the store.
“I decided to get up and run over, but at that point I was no longer focused on what I was going to buy,” she said. “I was more concerned that he was still in the area.”
She alerted store security and then posted a video of the officer handcuffing Elliott.
A Pitt County Schools spokesperson confirmed the suspect is a volunteer at Eastern Elementary School.
“We are disturbed and deeply concerned by the video footage of this individual that was shared on social media and in the news media. The footage shows that this individual cannot return to campus as a volunteer or be hired as an employee. There is no such thing,” the official said. Tom McClellan told the magazine.
He added that all volunteers and visitors are screened through Raptor, a program that determines whether people are on the sex offender database.
Open Door Church in Winterville also told the outlet that Elliott volunteered there.
“Thomas Elliott was notified of his arrest on Monday and was immediately terminated,” Church told WITN, without providing details about what exactly he did there.
Authorities said no inappropriate images of children were found on Elliott’s cell phone.
A search warrant for the device states that the suspect “denied any wrongdoing and showed us (police) recent photos he had on his cell phone,” WITN reported. It is said that
The warrant reportedly seeks video files, digital images, text messages, and “deleted information that may be recovered through forensic examination.”
Elliott was charged with felony disclosure of confidential information and posted $5,000 bail.
“As a woman, it is alarming and disgusting to witness the truth,” said Kristen Hunter, Greenville police spokeswoman. “We commend the woman for videotaping this and confronting the suspect.”
She added: “I think the important thing is to always be aware of your surroundings, trust your instincts, and speak up if you feel something is wrong.”
