On a recent episode of the popular liberal podcast “Pod Save America,” two of the co-hosts shared a moment that made President Trump chuckle regarding his critiques of former President Obama.
During a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump had some choice words about the Obama Presidential Center currently under construction in Chicago. “He’s building a library in Chicago,” Trump remarked, referring to Obama. “It’s a disaster. And he says, ‘I only want Day, I just want to wake up.'”
Trump continued, “He wants to wake up to help people build it. Well, he’s woken up, and they have a massive cost overrun. Work has stopped.”
In a response to a clip featuring Trump’s comments, Tommy Vietor, co-host of “Pod Save America” and a former national security spokesperson, humorously remarked on social media platform X about the ongoing issues at the Obama Presidential Center, suggesting that those working there should “acknowledge the land and scream their pronouns.”
Another co-host, John Favreau, a former speechwriter for Obama, joined the conversation by sharing a graphic titled “The Pyramid of White Hegemony.” He admitted that building a presidential center for neoliberal free traders during the Great Recession presented its own set of challenges.
The White House was contacted for a response. Emily Bittner, vice president of communications at the Obama Foundation, stated, “Everyone who sees the Obama Presidential Center is blown away by its beauty, size, and how it will serve as a beacon for Chicago’s economy and the world’s hope.” She expressed eagerness to welcome visitors to the 19.3-acre campus next spring, emphasizing the importance of celebrating Obama’s legacy and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
