Rep. Ro Khanna Questions Biden’s Reelection Readiness
Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) asserted that it was “clearly” evident that former President Biden was “not in a condition” to run for reelection, referencing recent insights from CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’s Alex Thompson.
Kanna, who played a role in the Biden campaign for 2024, commented on the former president’s justification, noting that the party should recognize that Biden made a “mistake.”
In a post on X, Kanna reflected on his limited interactions with Biden, stating, “He seemed consistent.” However, he added, “It is clear to me now that he wasn’t in the condition to run for reelection, based on @jaketapper and others reported.”
“We have to be honest with people about party mistakes,” he emphasized.
His comments included a clip from Fox News’ “The Story,” where host Martha McCallum asked if he had been truthful regarding Biden’s mental state during earlier months of 2024.
“I was,” Kanna responded, recalling the few occasions he met Biden at public events. “I might have met him twice at a ropeline and a public event,” he noted, acknowledging he didn’t have a comprehensive view of the situation.
Kanna urged for greater transparency, stating that Democrats ought to take accountability to better engage with the American people and “move forward.”
These remarks align with an excerpt from Tapper and Thompson’s forthcoming book, “Original Singh: President Biden’s Decline, Concealment, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” which indicates that members of Biden’s cabinet were aware of his limitations towards the end of his term.
Nevertheless, Kanna clarified that he didn’t hold Biden’s close advisers accountable for failing to intervene regarding his reelection bid. In response, a spokesperson for Biden stated that they were waiting for clear evidence that the president’s decision-making or national security was compromised, asserting instead that he had been an effective leader.
