Impeachment Articles Introduced Against HHS Secretary Kennedy
On Wednesday, House Democrats moved to introduce articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The announcement came from Rep. Haley Stevens, a Democrat from Michigan, who had indicated she would file the articles previously in September.
In her statement shared on social media, Stevens expressed strong discontent: “Today, I formally introduced articles of impeachment against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He has disregarded science and the well-being of the American people, making it untenable for the residents of Michigan to endure his disruptions.”
Responding to this development, an HHS spokesperson, Andrew Nixon, characterized the impeachment as a distraction, stating, “Secretary Kennedy remains focused on improving health and lowering costs for Americans, not partisan political stunts.”
This impeachment effort follows closely after another Michigan Democrat, Rep. Shri Thanedar, also introduced articles against Army Secretary Pete Hegseth. Thanedar cited alarming reports alleging Hegseth had issued unethical orders regarding a boat allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
Thanedar remarked, “Pete Hegseth has used the U.S. military to extrajudicially execute individuals without credible evidence of wrongdoing. Former military lawyers have even claimed that his actions could be classified as war crimes. We cannot turn a blind eye to such misconduct, which prompted me to file these articles of impeachment.”
Both Stevens and Thanedar face competitive primary races as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 elections. The situation remains fluid, and more updates are expected soon.
