House Democrat says Trump setting stage for World War III

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) condemned former President Trump’s comments about Russia in an interview Wednesday, saying former President Trump effectively gave Russian President Vladimir Putin the go-ahead and said the third world He said that he was laying the groundwork for a war.

Moskowitz took issue with President Trump’s comments over the weekend that he would not protect European countries in NATO if they were “delinquent” in making payments to the security alliance.

In an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Moskowitz said, “Donald Trump talks about dealing with Russia, but if Russia starts invading Europe, World War III will start.” Deaf,” he said.

“Donald Trump is talking about it and setting the stage. It’s wrong for every world leader other than Vladimir Putin to look at this and say, ‘America can’t bring him back as president.’ No,” Moskowitz continued.

At a rally in South Carolina on Saturday, President Trump told a story about a time he spoke with another leader of a NATO member nation while he was president.

“One of the presidents of a great nation stood up and said, ‘Well, if we don’t pay and the Russians attack us, will you protect us?'” Trump said at the rally. Told. “I said, ‘I haven’t paid, I’m delinquent.’ He said, ‘Yes, let’s say that happened.’ No, I won’t protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever they want. ”

The remarks prompted a backlash from President Biden, who said that if President Trump were to “take back power, he would be increasingly willing to abandon our NATO allies in the face of a Russian attack on Sunday.” That’s making it clear.”

“The role of commander in chief is the ultimate responsibility, and one that must weigh heavily on the person who holds this office,” Biden said in a statement. “Donald Trump’s admission that he intends to give President Putin the green light for more war and violence, continue his brutal attacks on free Ukraine, and expand his aggression against the peoples of Poland and the Baltic states, It’s horrifying and dangerous.”

During his presidency, Trump pressured NATO members to spend 2% of their gross domestic product on defense. NATO leaders say all members will reach that benchmark in 2024, and this year 18 NATO countries will meet or exceed the 2% target.
