House Democrats Tackle Epstein Issue in Feeble Bid to Shame Trump

Democrats Target Trump Over Epstein Files

In what seems to be a rather weak effort to embarrass President Trump, two House Democrats have chosen to involve themselves in the controversial Jeffrey Epstein situation.

The Trump administration is facing criticism from conservatives regarding its handling of investigations related to Epstein’s death. Even officials within the Department of Justice have been caught downplaying their connection to the matter. One source noted, “Sure, drug lords can be apprehended easily, but in this case, they’re looking to close the book, and the Attorney General needs to find a better way to address this.”

While the GOP is engaged in its own strategies regarding Epstein, Democrats are looking to score a quick political point against Trump. In doing this, they may end up making a similar miscalculation: going too far.

California Rep. Ro Khanna mentioned on Axios that he plans to propose an amendment to the Cryptocurrency Bill, which would require Epstein’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to “maintain, store, and update records or evidence related to investigation, prosecution, or incarceration.” The committee will discuss this bill on Tuesday, and should it be approved, Bondi would be compelled to “publish” Epstein-related files online within 30 days. Although the amendment is likely to fail, Khanna’s main intention is to force Republicans on the committee to take a stand—particularly those who are displeased with the association between Trump and Epstein.

Additionally, Democratic Rep. Marc Veasey from Texas stated that he intends to introduce a resolution this Sunday urging the Trump administration to make Epstein’s files public.

Rep. Veasey tweeted, “Which one will @RealdonaldTrump and his allies defend his campaign by downplaying the significance of these Epstein files? So, on Monday, we will present a resolution calling for the Trump administration to release all files related to the Epstein case.”

Does it matter if nine Republican members on the House Rules Committee vote against Khanna’s amendments? Probably not. Veasey’s resolution may not even come to a vote in the House.

Democrats don’t appear to be embarrassed by their actions regarding the GOP. They’re entering tricky territory with Epstein, yet the lesson from last week is clear: if they can’t handle the fallout, it may be best to remain silent and avoid the anger of citizens demanding real transparency and accountability from their government.
