First appearance on Fox: A bipartisan group in the House of Representatives is calling for minimizing China’s influence on the U.S. food supply.
A new bill introduced by Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa) and Rep. Meanwhile, China is increasing its dominance in other areas critical to the U.S. food supply, such as amino acid production and trade. According to the Social Science Research Network, Chinese manufacturers control up to 85% of the global market for essential amino acids used in livestock feed.
“These trends create the potential for China to manipulate markets for these critical inputs, resulting in fewer choices for producers and less food security for U.S. consumers,” the July 2021 study said. There is a possibility that security issues may arise.”
