House GOP campaign arm lags behind Democrats in August

The Republican National Congressional Committee (NRCC), the House Republican campaign arm, lagged behind the Democratic campaign arm.s New reports suggest it raised more than $12 million in funding in August.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) raised $22.3 million in August, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) reports. The committee spent nearly $27 million last month, leaving it with just over $87 million in cash on hand.

The NRCC didn't have a very successful August. The committee raised $9.7 million, according to an FEC report on Friday. The House Republican campaign organization spent $12.3 million, leaving it with $70.7 million in cash on hand.

The August numbers mark another strong fundraising season for the DCCC. The committee outraised the NRCC in July, the same month President Biden decided not to run for reelection. The DCCC raised $17.6 million in July, nearly $6 million more than the NRCC's $11.7 million.

The DCCC said Friday that it has raised $250.6 million so far in the election cycle, setting a new record for “fundraising efforts in any presidential election cycle to date.”

“There is incredible enthusiasm for Democrats across the country right now, and thanks to the work of Leader Jeffries and the entire House Democratic Caucus, we continue to have the resources we need to harness that energy, go on the offensive, and take back the House,” said House Speaker Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.). statement.

The last time the NRCC outraised the Democratic campaign arm was in May, when the Republican committee raised $12.6 million and the DCCC raised $11.9 million that month. This was the first time the NRCC has outraised the DCCC in 2024.

An NRCC spokesperson pointed The Hill to the fundraising situation of House Republican campaigns at this point in the last presidential election cycle, noting that the group was trailing the DCCC by nearly two to one, yet Republicans still managed to retake control of the House.
