House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) on Wednesday announced legislation aimed at preventing noncitizens from voting in U.S. elections.
Prime Minister Johnson joined House and Senate bill leaders, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Sen. Mike Lee, at the base of the Capitol to promote the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. He held a press conference that attracted attention. , R-Utah.
He warned that a “dangerously high number” of illegal immigrants could vote in U.S. elections, which he said could even affect the outcome.
“Because of the wide open border that the Biden administration refuses to close and in fact they engineered to open, there are so many noncitizens in this country right now that 1 out of every 100 people who voted They’re going to close the border just because of people’s hundreds of thousands of votes,” Johnson said.

“And because our elections are so close, with several states deciding the composition of Congress and who gets elected to the White House, this is a dangerously high number and hundreds of thousands of This is of great concern to all Americans, and clearly could change the outcome of the election.”
Prime Minister Johnson later acknowledged that it was unclear how many illegal immigrants and non-citizens voted in U.S. elections, but said the bill would definitely stop that from happening.
“Currently, states are not allowed to certify whether someone claims on that simple form that they are a citizen and can vote; they are not allowed to certify whether that is true. “We all know intuitively that many illegals have the right to vote in federal elections, but that’s not something that can be easily proven,” he said. Ta. “We don’t have those numbers. This legislation will allow us to do just that. It will prevent that from happening.”

“We are here for a simple proposition that the majority of Americans support: Only Americans should vote. We need documentary evidence. Only Americans should vote. “We should have a system to ensure that each state votes in a federal election,” Roy said.
Also attending the press conference were Stephen Miller and Hogan Gidley, former Trump administration officials and current executives at the conservative think tank America First Policy Institute.
