House GOP to investigate ‘cover-up’ following leaked Hur audio indicating Biden’s difficulties

House GOP to probe 'cover up' after leaked Hur audio signals Biden struggle

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is set to conduct a hearing regarding concerns about former President Biden’s cognitive abilities and his use of automatic pens in the Oval Office. This follows the emergence of audio from a recent interview with special advisor Robert Huar.

During the interview, which aired on “Hannity” on Fox News, Huar mentioned that “obviously” the discussion included insights from various interviews that highlighted Biden’s inconsistent decision-making, particularly around the time when autopen usage was heightened.

Although a transcript from a two-day interview with Huar was released last year, the Biden administration prevented the release of the audio recordings to the Justice Department. Huar had earlier concluded that Biden was simply an “older, well-meaning man with bad memories” in relation to his handling of classified documents.

The recently leaked audio from Axios indicates issues with Biden’s long pauses and memory lapses.

On Friday, Comer, the committee’s chair, stated that investigations regarding Biden’s cognitive function will continue as the presidency nears its end.

“There’s a genuine worry that President Biden may not have the mental capacity to make these decisions,” Comer remarked during a discussion with former GOP senator Jason Chaffetz. “The American public deserves honesty.”

He further emphasized that they aim to uncover the truth and hinted that those involved in the alleged cover-up would soon face scrutiny.

Comer had previously sought to meet with a former high-ranking White House aide in search of recordings from the Huar interview. However, he accused the Biden administration of obstructing their investigation and ignoring legal subpoenas.

“This is potentially one of the biggest scandals in recent history, and the people want answers,” he asserted. “Now that Biden’s closest allies can’t hide behind presidential power, we are determined to reveal the truth.”

The committee is eager to hear from Biden’s key aides, including Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams, and they are also requesting an interview with former presidential physician Kevin O’Connor.
