The House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning “calls to defund the police.”

The House approved the bill with overwhelming bipartisan support, 337-61. All votes against the nonbinding resolution came from Democratic officials.
The bill was brought to the floor by Republicans as part of the Police Week bill push.
The bill was introduced by Rep. Pete Stover (R-Minn.), a former Duluth police lieutenant who criticized Democrats for “denigrating law enforcement” before the vote.
“The bluntness of my colleagues across the aisle is unconscionable,” Stauber said. “Where were they in the summer of 2020?”
Meanwhile, several lawmakers supported law enforcement. They also expressed their condolences to the families who lost loved ones killed in the line of duty.
“Under Joe Biden and far-left leadership, the safety of American law enforcement is being sacrificed to Democratic pro-crime policies,” the paper said. ” he said. The Hill. “Lawless liberals are preventing police from doing their jobs through failed bail reforms like those in my home state of New York and pro-crime policies that appease far-left Democrats’ defunding of police policies.”
Many of the members who voted “no” have become leading voices disparaging law enforcement since 2020.
