House Republicans ‘Are Following Orders’ from Trump

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that House Republicans are criticizing the border deal because they are “following orders” from former President Donald Trump. said.

While debating the Senate immigration bill, Jeffries said, “We don’t deserve to be dead on arrival. You know, we need more common sense in Washington, D.C., and less conflict and chaos.”

He added, “We are in an era of divided government, which means we should try to find bipartisan common ground. House Democrats have made that clear. No matter the issue, we should try to find bipartisan common ground. We’re also willing to work with Republican legislators when it makes sense in terms of delivering real results for the American people. How could it be invalid? They don’t even know what solutions are being proposed in terms of addressing the challenges at the border.

Jeffries added, “At this point, House Republicans are a complete subsidiary of Donald Trump. They are not working to find real solutions for the American people. They are following the orders of the former president. That’s the height of irresponsibility. That’s what the American people hate about Washington, D.C., at this point.”
