House Republicans Issue Subpoena to Jill Biden's Colleague

Subpoena Issued to Biden Aide Over Alleged Cognitive Decline Cover-Up

A senior aide from former President Joe Biden’s administration, Anthony Bernal, has been subpoenaed by House Republicans. He’s accused of allegedly concealing Biden’s cognitive decline during his presidency.

Bernal, who is notably a close aide to Biden and has been described as the “work husband” of former First Lady Jill Biden, declined to participate in a transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.

Originally set to appear on Thursday, Bernal’s plans changed following information from Trump’s White House lawyer’s office regarding Neela Tanden, the former Director of the National Policy Council. She had testified on Tuesday, and it was mentioned that Bernal would not receive enforcement privileges.

James Kommer, the Chairman of the House Committee on Surveillance and Government Reform, issued the subpoena, as reported by Fox News.

In a letter addressed to Bernal, Comer stated:

Considering the close ties between former Presidents Biden and Jill Biden, the committee aims to determine if you were involved in efforts to conceal the former president’s ability to serve from the public. Your refusal to comply with the committee’s request is noted. However, your testimony is crucial for the committee’s oversight functions and legislative obligations.

He added that Congress may need to rethink potential legislation regarding assessments of former President Biden’s fitness for office, especially in relation to the 25th Amendment.

In a related context, recent video footage from Project Veritas has drawn scrutiny on former DNC Vice Chairman David Hogg, accusing him of exerting influence within the White House, according to Breitbart News.

It’s also worth mentioning that earlier this month, Comer initiated an investigation into Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, regarding the alleged cover-up of cognitive decline.

Bernal is required to appear for deposition on July 16, as mandated by the subpoena.
