House Republicans issue subpoenas to Biden's doctor and target Karine Jean-Pierre.

Subpoena Issued for Biden’s Doctor Amid Oversight Investigation

In Washington, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has officially subpoenaed Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Joe Biden’s physician, as questions arise regarding a purported cover-up of the former president’s mental decline. The committee is also considering inviting Carine Jean-Pierre to testify, reflecting on the challenges faced by the administration she once served.

The subpoena was issued after Dr. O’Connor declined to participate in a transcribed interview, citing confidentiality between doctor and patient. “Instead of complete cooperation, your attorney suggests a series of written questions, allowing you to evaluate your responses,” Comer noted. “This approach is not satisfactory and undermines the committee’s legitimate oversight duties. Therefore, we find it necessary to issue this subpoena.”

Sources close to the investigation reveal that the committee intends to speak with Jean-Pierre, who plans to publish a book titled “Independent: Outside the Broken White House” on October 21, shortly after announcing her departure from the Democrats.

Dr. O’Connor is the first witness called by Comer as part of a broader inquiry into concerns over Biden’s mental acuity and whether there has been an effort to conceal any issues with his health.

Initially, Comer requested insight into the circumstances surrounding O’Connor’s assessment that Biden is “a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old man” capable of fulfilling presidential responsibilities.

In his recent communications, Comer indicated the committee is also exploring whether O’Connor’s financial ties to the Biden family may have influenced his evaluations of the former president’s fitness for office. “Given your relationship with the Biden family, we’re trying to ascertain if you played a role in any efforts to mislead the public about the president’s capabilities,” he wrote.

The committee has been in discussions regarding testimonies from several Biden aides, including Anthony Bernal, the former chief of staff to First Lady Jill Biden, and other ex-West Wing staff members such as Annie Tomasini, Neera Tanden, and Ashley Williams.

On the same day, Comer called for testimonies from former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, Communications Director Anita Dunn, and long-time advisors Bruce Reed, Mike Donilon, and Steve Richetti.

Biden has consistently rejected assertions regarding his mental decline throughout his presidency. Just last week, he suggested to reporters that he’s fit enough to compete with journalist Jake Tapper and co-author Alex Thompson, stating, “I’m not mentally incompetent, nor unable to walk; I can still go strong,” he remarked during an event in Delaware.
