A new bill led by Rep. Nick Langworthy (R-Ohio) and supported by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) would ensure a speedy and fair process for Justice Department whistleblowers. The purpose is to
“Unfortunately, the FBI and the Department of Justice have a long history of silencing whistleblowers by revoking classified information, delaying investigations, and ending their careers. The law protects whistleblowers from retaliation. , will ensure that those who come forward to do the right thing can do it without fear for their future,” Langworthy told FOX News Digital.

Jordan told Fox News Digital that “dozens” of Justice Department whistleblowers have brought “allegations of political bias and misconduct” to his committee.
“These whistleblowers risked their careers and livelihoods to speak out in order to shed light on issues and restore public trust in the FBI. Unfortunately, existing whistleblowers “Loopholes in the federal protection law allowed FBI senior leadership to retaliate against many of these whistleblowers,” Jordan said.

The bill would authorize the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General as the sole investigator for whistleblower retaliation investigations and require those investigations to be completed within 240 days.
It would also prevent the Justice Department from enforcing human resources practices, including removing security clearances.
Earlier this month, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco announced a 90-day pilot program to encourage whistleblowers to provide new critical information.

The House Judiciary Committee has been investigating allegations of whistleblower retaliation within the FBI, particularly since Republicans gained a majority in January 2023. Last May, the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government held a hearing on allegations of whistleblower retaliation within the federal government. Bureau.
