Two House Republicans are proposing a bill that would cut off federal funding to medical schools that practice diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices.

Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) and Rep. Greg Murphy (R-Calif.) are scheduled to host a press conference on the education law Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET. The law “aims to eliminate all federal funding, including student loans, for medical schools,” according to a press release from Wenstrup’s office on Monday. It is an accredited body that is fully equipped.”

Also scheduled to speak are Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, president of Do No Harm, and Tavia Lee, founding member of Free Black Thought and former director of DEI at De Anza College.

“America’s medical schools are the best in the world and there is no place for discrimination,” Murphy said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “The Education Act requires medical schools and accrediting agencies to adhere to color-blind admissions procedures and prohibits coercion on students with particular political views. Diversity strengthens health care, but it does not exclude “Medicine is about serving others and doing your best work.” Compromising excellence and quality in medical education through bias and divisive ideology. I can’t afford it. ”

Mandating DEI tenets, or classes and programs that teach those DEI principles.

These doctrines include: “No matter what gender, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin an individual belongs to the oppressed category or the oppressor category; “People should not be treated disadvantageously based on their ethnicity or religion.” , color, or national origin,” and “An individual may, because of their sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin, or “collective guilt” or “collective sin”.

The bill would require the School of Medicine to “certify that America is systemically, structurally, institutionally racist, or that racism is woven into the ‘normal operations of society,’ or that America is oppressive.” If they teach “national identity,” they will be disqualified from receiving federal funds. ”

The bill was introduced after a video went viral on Monday of Elon Musk clashing with Don Lemon over the risks of DEI practices lowering medical standards. The former CNN host interviewed Tesla’s CEO and X owner for the premiere episode of his new show, “The Don Lemon Show.”

In this episode, Lemon tells Musk that DEI policy will ultimately Patients affected.

“If the standards for passing the medical exam and becoming a doctor are lowered, especially for surgeons, etc., the chances of surgeons making mistakes will increase, and people may die as a result,” Musk said. Stated.

However, Lemon was adamant that there is no evidence that this is happening or that DEI policies are putting patients at risk.

“There’s no evidence of that, Elon,” he insisted.

CriticalRace.org, a watchdog group that monitors critical race theory (CRT) curriculum and training in higher education, maintains an online medical school database that includes all 155 accredited medical schools in the United States. According to their findings, at least 70% offer their CRT-related coursework or training as required or optional to their students.

Lemon argued that any suggestion that DEI policies are causing patient deaths is purely “speculative.” He claimed that research shows “quite the opposite” when it comes to the treatment of minorities in the U.S. health care system.

“Right now, most doctors are white and there are a lot of mistakes in medicine,” he continued.
