Padraig Harrington is one of the most beloved golfers on the PGA Tour. Although he may not be appearing on the main circuit as often as he once was, the Irishman still finds a way to get noticed.
The six-time PGA Tour winner shot an even-par 70 at the Houston Open on Thursday.
It wasn’t a phenomenal day on the course, but he hit the wildest shot of the day.
Harrington found the ball stuck in pine straw and buried under a tree. The camera couldn’t even see where his ball was.
However, Harrington sat on my lap He used a very unconventional stance to properly handle the ball and miraculously hit a solid shot into the fairway. He went on to save par on the hole.
This shot could be the difference between qualifying for Friday and missing out.
The 52-year-old is a fan favorite. More recently, he has taken over the realm of education, posting various golf drills to help improve amateur players. He is always striving to make golf more accessible.
During the telecast, the station mentioned Harrington’s passion for the pro-am prior to the event. They detailed the lessons he gave the entire group ahead of this week’s tournament.
That’s just Harrington. He loves giving advice and disseminating his knowledge to the masses. He just picked up a Champions Tour win last week at the Hogue Classic. Harrington still has a lot of competitiveness and it shows when he chooses to take shots like he did Thursday.
