houston the police say A woman strangled her teenage girlfriend to death after an argument over a sexually transmitted disease.
The body of 18-year-old Tierra Horn was found on a hiking trail near Buffalo Bayou on Friday, January 5th. She was pronounced dead at the scene by police.
The autopsy report found the cause of death was due to pressure on Horne's neck.
A week later, police arrested Horn's 24-year-old girlfriend, Shania Lanise Turner. Her investigators said Turner killed Horne after an argument over a sexually transmitted disease he had given her.
state prosecutor Asked Turner was supposed to be given $500,000 bail, but the judge set bail at $100,000.
Horne's sister Rokeisha Culton told KRIV-TV The victim reportedly began a relationship with Turner after her mother passed away in 2021.
“When she met this particular person we're talking about, she just went off track,” she said.
Culton said she saw signs of abuse, including scars on Horne's face, but said it was difficult for her sister to go to police because she lied about the injuries.
“If you didn't tell me, there's nothing I can do about it. I could have reported it,” Culton said.
She said her family had not seen Horne since Jan. 2 and reported her missing two days later. Her family saw a television report about a body found near Buffalo Bayou and went to see if it was Ms. Horne.
Carlton said she was with Turner when her sister was last seen alive and her phone rang at Turner's apartment.
“I'm angry about that. I forgive them. I want them to pay for what they did,” she concluded.
KHOU-TV reported that the incident was Turner's first criminal charge.
