Jets Tackle Armando Menbou Reflects on Tough Game

HERTFORDSHIRE, England — Jets rookie tackle Armando Menbou came off his hardest performance last Sunday against the Cowboys.

PFF reported that Menbou faced four penalties, with three that were penalties against him, and he allowed five pressures during the game.

“It’s definitely been a rollercoaster,” Menbou mentioned on Thursday. “We had too many mistakes, and we just need to bounce back next week.”

This was the first major setback for the first-round pick in his rookie season.

On the whole, Menbou has shown solid progress and quickly adapted to the NFL.

“Honestly, I think the season has kicked off quite well,” Menbou expressed. “I’m eager to keep improving and help the team secure its first victory.”

The Jets are set to face the Broncos in London this Sunday, and Denver brings a league-high 21 sacks into the matchup.

For the Jets to clinch their first win, Menbou and the offensive line must protect Justin Fields effectively.

“They really have a strong defensive line,” Menbou noted. “I think they’ve led the league in sacks for the past two years. The offensive line knows what’s at stake this week, and we’re geared up to tackle that challenge.”

As for the trip to England, the 21-year-old seems to be enjoying the experience.

“It’s quite fascinating,” Menbou remarked. “Hearing people with British accents and their little expressions was a bit of a surprise.”

There have been some doubts about whether Fields is holding onto the ball too long before making throws.

Offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand defended his quarterback on Thursday.

“I think he’s getting rid of the ball at the right moments,” Engstrand said. “If he’s trying to throw deep with play-action, it might take longer to reset the play clock. But is he just sitting back and holding onto the ball? I don’t believe so.”

Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson (ankle) was limited in Thursday’s practice but seems ready to play for the first time in four games.

RB Kene Nwanwu (hamstring) is also limited but expected to return.

DT Quinnen Williams (groin) was similarly practicing in a limited capacity but is slated to play as well.
