Raucous protesters disrupted a town hall event with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) soon after it began, yelling about Gaza’s “genocide.”
As Ocasio-Cortez launched into her PowerPoint presentation, she quickly faced interruptions, with discussions about budget cuts under the Trump administration affecting local healthcare.
“I’m a healthcare worker! What are you doing about Gaza’s genocide?” angry voices echoed from the crowd.
The audience reacted with chants of “Shame! Shame! Shame!” and audible boos filled the room.
Protesters further accused her of betrayal, shouting, “You’re a war criminal! War criminal! War criminal! I supported you!”
As reported by The New York Post:
A protester yelled, “You are a war criminal! War criminal! War criminal!” on her way out, stating, “I was embarrassed by you, I was one of your supporters!”
Once things calmed down, Ocasio-Cortez addressed the disruptive protests.
“I welcome dissent and understand that people may be angry with me. However, there are certain basic rules that need to be respected,” she remarked.
