Former President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer
News emerged on Sunday about former US President Joe Biden being diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. His office revealed that the cancer has a Gleason score of 9, indicating it is serious, and has spread to the bone. Fortunately, the type of cancer seems to be sensitive to hormones, which may allow for effective treatment. The Biden family is currently exploring various options for managing the illness.
Lawmakers from both the Democratic and Republican parties took to social media to express their support for the 82-year-old leader. Former President Donald Trump, who has often questioned Biden’s cognitive abilities, stated he was “sad” to hear about his health condition. On his social platform, Trump mentioned, “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We want Jill and his family to know our warmest wishes for a quick recovery.”
Former President Barack Obama also shared his best wishes for Biden’s recovery. Having served as Vice President during Obama’s administration, Biden has a deep connection with him. In a post on X, Obama expressed, “Michelle and I are thinking about the entire Biden family. I’m confident that anyone who works diligently to find innovative treatments for cancer, like Joe, will face this challenge with his usual determination and grace.”
Following the passing of his son Beau to brain cancer in 2015, Biden spearheaded the Cancer Moonshot Initiative aimed at lowering cancer death rates and improving patient lives.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who had previously dropped out of last year’s presidential election, commented on Biden’s diagnosis. She mentioned that she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were saddened by the news. “Joe is a fighter, and I know he will tackle this challenge with the same spirit and optimism that has always defined him,” she wrote on X, expressing hope for a swift recovery. “We are keeping him, Dr. Biden, and their whole family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also remarked on Biden’s fight against cancer, emphasizing his efforts to support other families facing similar battles and wishing him a quick recovery. Additionally, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Biden an “American patriot” and expressed her hope that countless people nationwide and globally would unite in wishing him a strong recovery.
