How Knicks can address roster questions after quiet NBA trade deadline

Leon Rose took a break on the fifth anniversary of his employment.

The NBA roster went through some shocking changes ahead of the crazy Thursday trade deadline, but the Knicks completed a minor deal by sending Jerichosims to the Deron Wright Bucks on Wednesday night. did.

The aftermath still leaves the Knicks with plenty of questions about their frontcourt and wing depth (the two issues that surfaced this season), but it could also be in the acquisition market for teams hoping for a deep playoff run.

The lack of movement was also a symbol of the Knicks' confidence in the return and effectiveness of Mitchell Robinson, which has not been played since April.

Without Robinson and the Sims, the Knicks have three natural frontcourt players on their roster. Ariel Fukuporti, the precious Acuwa, in the town of Karl Anthony.

OG Anunoby, who missed the last two games with his spinned feet, is his starting ability when he's healthy.

Sources said the team's attitude at the deadline was to upgrade the depth of the frontcourt if they couldn't rely on Robinson.

In the last update, the center was cleared for contact and progressed towards his first full practice of the season.

Assuming he's coming back, Robinson will be a big midseason addition for the Knicks.

Relying on Robinson is a dangerous gamble. He has missed about half of the game since the 2020-21 season, but the 26-year-old is an ideal fit for health reasons.

He fills the area the Knicks lack in his rim protection and offensive rebounds.

But without Thursday's move, the Knicks were on the sidelines to shift the NBA. Three teams in Eastern Conference playoff photos are shuffling the deck.

The first-team Cavaliers were defensive and upgraded on the wing by acquiring Deandre Hunter from the Hawks of Charis Leverts and Georges Nian.

The Bucks added Kyle Kuzma from the wizard in Khris Middleton.

And fever received Andrew Wiggins from Jimmy Butler's Golden State.

The acquisition market has not yet come to fruition, but the Knicks will not be able to sign players whose salary is above the medium-level exception ($12.8 million) before being exempt.

This is a limitation of working on the first apron, a disadvantage compared to the Cavaliers, which have no non-tax restrictions.

Among the potential acquisition candidates, the Knicks cannot sign as a taxpayer: Malcolm Brogdon, Bruce Brown, Ben Simmons, and Bojang Bogdanovic.

These players must be abandoned by their respective teams by March 1 to maintain playoff eligibility in the acquisition market.

With an open roster spot, the Knicks can also boost G-League players like veteran TJ Warren.

Rose was the first to be leaked as the new Knicks president on February 6, 2020, and did not stop trading in the season as a result.

In 2021 he bought Derrick Rose.

In 2022 he got his Cam Red Dish.

It was Josh Hart in 2023. Last season, Rose spent big for OG Anunoby.

After spending a lot of time in the offseason, Rose was held back as it was operated with limited assets and maneuverability.

He offered a pick for the first round he was protected and had a second round hanging down.

However, the only move was the relocation of Wright's Sim and Flyer, defensively oriented guards who are on the 10th team in 10 seasons.

Sources have agreed that the partnership had carried out the course with Sims, the backup centre. He's off the rotation and heads to his free agency this summer.

In Milwaukee, the Sims join the roster with a thin frontcourt depth after Brook Lopez, Giannis Anteto Compo and Bobby Portis.
