How Mets, Yankees fans are reacting to Juan Soto’s megadeal

There was an immediate reaction on social media following the news that Juan Soto would be signing with the Mets.

The superstar slugger will cross the Whitestone Bridge from the Bronx to Queens to play on a 15-year contract with the Amazons, the largest contract in sports history worth $765 million.

The news broke late Sunday night and sent Mets fans into a state of euphoria, while Yankees fans were still trying to figure out how Soto felt after the Bronx Bombers' win.

Video posted by Barstool Sports Personality Chris Kremer was shown running around town shouting that the Mets had signed Soto.

“Uncle Stevie did it!!!!!!”Juan Soto is the Met!!!!!!!!” An X user wrote After the news broke.

“Juan Soto wanted to be the New York Mets. How about this, is it true?” Jolie Olive, a Mets fan and employee of JonBoy Media, wrote: With X.

“We got Juan Soto. We got Juan Soto. Let's go Mets. Steve, we love you so much!” a third person wrote.

But not everyone was thrilled to hear the news.

Streamer and Yankees fan Joes McFly was live streaming when people in his chat started requesting to play Mets shortstop Jose Iglesias' “OMG.”

A clip posted on social media highlighted the moment he saw the Post's Jon Heyman report that Soto would be selected by the Met.

“Oh my god,” he said, running his hands over his face in irritation.

“Juan Soto is dead to me. Enjoy being eliminated from playoff contention in July.” one disgruntled fan wrote to.

Soto was traded from the Padres last December and spent one season in the Bronx.

He had one great season with the Yankees, hitting .288 with 41 home runs and 109 RBIs, finishing third in American League MVP voting.

He formed a powerful one-two punch with Aaron Judge, leading the Yankees to their first World Series appearance since 2009.

He will now look to help the Mets win their first championship since 1986.
