As explained by Harry Cox, founder of Club Q Health in London, this tension triggers a series of biological signals that increase muscle protein synthesis. In simpler terms, this means your body produces new proteins that are added to muscle fibers, resulting in larger and stronger muscles.

Ways to Build Muscle Effectively

Resistance training is one of the most effective methods for muscle building. This involves using weights to make exercises more challenging. For example, lifting a dumbbell for a bicep curl adds resistance, making the exercise significantly tougher than doing it without weights. The more weight you lift, the more your muscles need to adapt and grow stronger.

According to fitness expert Penny Weston, if you train correctly, you can actually build muscle by engaging in weight training just two to three times a week. She emphasizes the importance of gradually increasing the weights you lift. This concept, known as progressive overload, is crucial. To maximize muscle growth, aim to lift heavier weights for at least two out of your four sets for each exercise.
