How Novak Djokovic's wife responded to his dance celebration at the US Open

After defeating American Taylor Fritz in the US Open Quarter Finals, Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jerena, expressed her support for a dance he did. The match ended with scores of 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4.

Following the match, Djokovic showcased a dance to the song “Soda Pop,” from the animated film “Kpop Demon Hunters.” This was a special gesture for their daughter Tara, who celebrated her 8th birthday on that day.

“Awww my little soda pop!!!” Jerena commented on her Instagram story, sharing a video of Djokovic’s performance after the match.

She added in Croatian, “Let’s go to Hahaha.”

Describing his quarterfinal win, Djokovic, a four-time US Open champion, called it a “big present” for Tara, who loves K-pop and has even taught him some dance moves.

Djokovic remarked during an on-court interview at Arthur Ashe Stadium, “It’s September 2nd, my daughter’s birthday, and this is a huge gift for her. Actually, she taught me the dance moves yesterday, so I’m grateful. The song is called ‘Soda Pop.’”

He continued, saying, “It’s clearly popular among teens and kids. I hadn’t heard of it until Tara brought it up months ago. We had different choreography at home, and this just happened to be one of them.”

Despite committing 40 forced errors, Djokovic maintained his perfect record against Fritz, now at 11-0 in quarterfinal matches.

After the match, Djokovic reflected, “I felt I wasn’t at my best today. The ball didn’t feel right, not like it did in the third round.”

He added, “Taylor is the kind of player who will take charge if you let him. He’ll attack and stay aggressive.”

Next up, Djokovic is set to face second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals on Friday.
