NFL Commissioner Comments on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Performance
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn’t anticipate that Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance at the Super Bowl will spark any political movements. He made these remarks while chatting with reporters just days before the big game, following the artist’s critical comments about ICE during his Grammy Awards acceptance speech.
Goodell expressed his hope that Bad Bunny’s performance would bring attendees together. “I think Bad Bunny proved last night that he’s one of the greatest artists in the world,” he remarked. He added that they selected him partly because he recognizes the significance of the platform he has and the potential to unite people through creativity and talent.
In the past, artists have used significant moments to foster unity, something Goodell believes Bad Bunny will continue. He strongly encourages a positive experience for everyone involved.
Since the announcement of Bad Bunny’s performance, reactions have been mixed, particularly among conservatives, some of whom have been openly critical of the NFL’s decision.
In response to the controversy, Turning Point USA announced its own halftime event, featuring Kid Rock, as a counter to the NFL’s choice. A survey conducted by The Athletic indicated that about 58.6 percent of NFL players approved of Bad Bunny being featured in the halftime show, while 41.1 percent were less favorable.
During his Grammy speech, Bad Bunny made headlines by denouncing ICE, stating, “ICE is out,” emphasizing that immigrants are human beings deserving of respect. He concluded with a call for love over hate, suggesting that the latter grows stronger in today’s environment.
