Seahawks Take Down Patriots in Super Bowl

During the 2026 Super Bowl, Drake Maye didn’t shine as expected, but the Seahawks certainly made the most of their encounter with the young quarterback.

Julian Love casually remarked to teammate Kobe Bryant about Maye’s typical traits as a young QB. Just before securing a game-clinching interception in their 29-13 victory over the Patriots, Love noted a flaw in Maye’s footwork. He pointed out how the quarterback tended to hesitate right before making a throw.

“He really pauses for a second to ensure the receiver is open,” Love explained, contrasting Maye’s approach with that of seasoned quarterbacks who might act more instinctively.

This moment of indecision gave the Seahawks’ defense the window they needed to make adjustments, enabling Love to seize the opportunity for a crucial pick, effectively ending New England’s late-game hopes.

In the closing minutes, Uchenna Nwosu added to the excitement with a return for a touchdown following another interception.

Cornerback Devon Witherspoon shared insights on how they exploited the Patriots’ offensive setup. “We were aware of how their guards and tackles positioned themselves. They tended to over-adjust on certain moves,” he revealed during a radio chat.

Nwosu emphasized that stopping Maye was central to their strategy that day. “We recognized he was pivotal to their offense,” he noted, emphasizing their plan to limit his effectiveness.

Despite putting up decent stats—295 yards and two touchdowns—most of Maye’s contributions came when the game was already out of reach.

The Patriots now head into an offseason focused on building off a season that saw them reach the Super Bowl, notably without having to face major stars like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, or Lamar Jackson in the playoffs. However, replicating that favorable path seems unlikely, even as they look to capitalize on some available cap space to address their offensive line issues, especially with number four overall pick Will Campbell struggling during the postseason.
