Why Go to an EDM Festival: Elrow Review
Party from dusk till dawn!
On Saturday, July 20th, I attended Elrow Town USA at the Brooklyn Mirage in Brooklyn. As mentioned above, this epic 12-hour rave started at 6pm and continued until 6am the next morning as the sun rose over the New York skyline.
For those unfamiliar with this popular entertainment brand, Elrow Based in Ibiza, Spain, has revolutionized the way fans experience live electronic music. The team is dedicated to bringing the best talent in art and design to life, bringing even the most outlandish concepts to life for everyone to enjoy.
Although such marathons can be exhausting, people love Elrow’s ability to excite and entertain audiences with creative themes, interesting characters, and eye-catching set designs. The theme of the show I attended was the Rowmuda Triangle, which told the tale of a pirate ship devoured by the Kraken. This concept served as the inspiration for the massive DJ booth and stage, which are the centerpieces of the show’s design.
Dubbed the “Party of Eternal Happiness,” the atmosphere resembled a wild undersea voyage in search of a hidden party at the bottom of the ocean. Throughout the night, quirky characters dressed as pirates, travelers, mermaids, and other fantastical sea creatures swayed through the crowd on stilts. My personal highlight was an elaborately designed purple octopus dancing right behind me. The costumed sea creatures continued their elaborate performance onstage, posing through the ship’s windows to get the crowd excited, as the beats pounded and confetti filled the air.
But elrow’s appeal isn’t just in its stunning visuals.
This globetrotting festival is known for featuring some of the most talented techno and house DJs on its lineup – crowd favourites at the New York show include AYYBO, Oden & Fatzo and Joshwa – it’s no wonder you could be rocking for hours – these guys know how to get the party going.
But when a dance break was needed (eventually), Elrow designed a separate room with relaxing underwater sounds, vines hanging from the ceiling, a large animation of a tranquil ocean floor, and rows of comfy couches to rest in. The venue also featured a food area, face painting booths, multiple bars, and an upper-level viewing section where you could see the stage from above without the bouncing crowds.
There are plenty of popular EDM festivals out there, but Elrow is undoubtedly one of the most fun and creative productions. In an interview with Elrow founder and CEO Juan Arnau Jr., he described Elrow as “an immersive show with plenty of audience interaction. We allow the audience to be part of the show. That’s where the magic happens and why Elrow is the most immersive show in the industry right now. Combining electronic music with actors, sound effects, toys, games and animation creates a unique experience.”
As pulsating beats throb all night long beneath a sea of color, it’s clear that EDM concerts like Elrow reflect the creativity and individuality of their community. The electric atmosphere, skilled musicians, imaginative design and inclusive spirit create an intoxicating experience that gets attendees dancing the night away.
So, we’re counting down the days until Elrow returns to New York!
Brooklyn Mirage and Upcoming Event Details
As you enter the venue, there are kiosks lined up on the walls where you can connect your credit card to the QR code on your wristband for a completely cashless experience – no need to fumble around in your bag or risk losing your valuables.
There will be three different rooms with a stage, multiple bars, a food area, an upstairs viewing space and a VIP section with tables and bottle service.
Sounds like just that kind of place, doesn’t it?

Tips and tricks for attending an EDM rave
- Bring a fan. Hours of dancing can make you hot and sweaty, so partygoers at Elrow fanned themselves with traditional fans, which, let’s be honest, make great accessories too.
- Find your best festival outfit! Wearing vibrant and unique style is part of the fun and will definitely contribute to the festival experience.
- Take breaks when you need them: Dancing throughout the entire festival is not for the faint of heart, which is why it’s so important to take breaks, wander around the venue and have a snack.
