By the end of the night, the U.S. Open women's singles final will be decided, with two Americans likely to compete.
Emma Navarro and Jessica Pegula are scheduled to face each other in the semifinals tonight, with a win sending them to the finals.
Navarro, ranked 13th in the world, will face world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, who has never won the U.S. Open as a singles player (but did win in doubles in 2019). Pegula, ranked 6th in the world, will face Karolina Muchova, who entered the U.S. Open unseeded.
To get there, Pegula had to beat world number one Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals, but Navarro beat defending champion Coco Gauff to reach the quarterfinals and then beat Paula Badosa in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
Both semifinal matches will be played back-to-back tonight and will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN+.
