How to watch Manhattanhenge

Manhattanhenge, a fascinating phenomenon in New York City, will emerge again on Wednesday.

The first Manhattanhenge of the year occurred on Tuesday, with two more expected in July. The spectacle occurs when the Manhattan sun is lining up with the street grid, making the sun appear to fit perfectly between Manhattan’s skyscrapers.

The best viewing locations are along 34th, 42nd, 57th, and 23rd Avenues. The best viewing time is 8:12 PM local time.

The phenomenon attracts large crowds, some of whom try to take quality photos and videos.

The second occurrence of Manhattanhenge is scheduled for July 12th and 13th.

Hayden Planetarium Said People should find a location “as far east as possible” with views across the Hudson River into New Jersey, the planetarium said, adding that sunsets can be viewed at Tudor City Overpass in Manhattan and Hunters Point South Park in Long Island City, Queens.
