It’s the seventh day of athletics at the 2024 Olympics, with four more medals due to be awarded in Paris by evening.
Yesterday in track and field, Team USA sprinter Gabby Thomas won her first Olympic gold medal in the 200 meters, Cole Hocker came from behind to win the 1500 meters, and, most notably, Team USA non-binary runner Nikki Hiltz advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 1500 meters, where they will compete again tomorrow.
With Americans competing in three of the four medal events today, Team USA will be expected to continue to add to its medal tally.
The main event today will be the men’s 400m final, in which three athletes from the US team will compete, but before that medals will be decided in the men’s long jump, men’s 1500m, women’s 300m steeplechase, and women’s hammer throw.
