Golf returns to the Olympics this year for the third time since 1906.
The men’s tournament, featuring 60 golfers, begins today, Aug. 1. The top 15 golfers in the world rankings automatically qualify, so the U.S. team can send up to four golfers to the tournament because it has four players among the top 15.
Among the four is Xander Schauffele, who recently won the British Open and defended his gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Collin Morikawa joins Schauffele as the only players on the U.S. team with Olympic experience.
