The U.S. women’s national team is seeking its fifth Olympic gold medal, but to do so they must beat one of their most frequent rivals, Brazil.
The gold medal game between Team USA and Team Brazil will mark the third time the two nations have met in an Olympic women’s soccer final, with the U.S. Women’s National Team winning gold medals in 2004 and 2008.
The U.S. Women’s National Team booked their spot in the final in dramatic fashion, with a late goal from Sophia Smith opening the scoring against Germany and a late save from Alyssa Naher protecting a 1-0 lead.
