This year's show features many first-time candidates in all categories, with many of the first times coming out of the gate as the frontline of the competition.

Towards the Academy Awards, Demi Moore was awarded the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award. Other first-time candidates for the lead actress race include Fernanda Torres of “I'm Still Here,” Mikey Madison of “Anora,” and Karla Sofía Gascón of “Emilia Perez.” They were joined by two previous candidate Cynthia Eribo in “Evil.”

Many of the nominated performances came from films that also received nominations for Best Picture. Emilia Perez was the most nominated this year at the age of 13, with the addition of Nickel Boys, The Brutalist, Conclave, The Complete Unknown, Matter, I'm Still Here, Anora, Wicked and Dune Part 2.

When the candidate was announced in January, social media users quickly pointed out what was the biggest snub of the year. Many believed that Angelina Jolie would be nominated for her third Academy Award for her lead role in “Maria,” in which she plays famous opera singer Maria Callas on the last day of her life. However, she was locked out of the awards show.

Pamela Anderson starred as an aging Las Vegas showgirl in what many call career-defining performances for her, and was shocked that the academy was nominated for her role in “The Last Showgirl” and failed to recognize her performance.

Also excluded from this year's nomination was Nicole Kidman because of her leading role in “Babygirl.” The actress was previously nominated for Golden Globes and won both the Palm Springs Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival.

“Emilia Perez” received 13 nominations at this year's awards show, but one of its stars was removed from running. Selena Gomez, who plays the Mexican-American ex-wife of the transgender cartel boss, was overlooked by the academy for her performance.

Many expected Denzel Washington to be great when he starred as Macrinus in “Gladiator II,” but despite being nominated for Golden Globes, the actor was locked out of all other award shows, including the Oscar. The film itself failed to get nominations.

In line with the award show tradition, winners in last year's acting category will return to present four Oscars to this year's winners. Emma Stone, who won her lead role in “The Poor,” was awarded the winner of the year's Best Actor, and Chilean Murphy, who won his lead role in “Oppenheimer,” will be awarded the winner of the year's Best Actor.

Robert Downey Jr., who won the support role in “Oppenheimer” last year, will be awarding Davin Joy Randolph, who won the support role in “Holdover” last year, will be awarding the best support actor.

Artists who have sung songs nominated for Best Original songs in the past few years will end up singing them on stage throughout the show. However, this year the format will be a little different.

Rather than performing to singers, the show honors the songwriter who created the song. This year's Best Song candidates include Like A Bird from Sing Sing, Mi Camino, Emilia Perez from Elmal, Elton John: Never Late, and Never Late from The Journey.

Viewers will not hear songs that were nominated during the show, but there will be performances from other artists. Performers include the group Blackpink, Dojacat, Queen Latifah and Rei Lisa. “Wicked” did not qualify for nominations in the best original song category, featuring existing songs from Broadway musicals, but its stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Eribo are set to appear on stage together to perform unknown songs.
