Howard Stern Confirms Return to SiriusXM Show
Howard Stern is back at it with his SiriusXM show after some unsettling rumors about his absence. The 71-year-old radio legend announced that “The Howard Stern Show” would return on Monday morning.
There were some speculations swirling around as fans noticed he hadn’t shown up, prompting him to bring along Andy Cohen. Cohen, not one to shy away from the spotlight, added to the chatter about the situation.
“I know everyone hopes for a big announcement from Howard, but this isn’t quite how it’s supposed to go,” said Cohen, who is 57. He described the morning as “surreal.”
There had been a lot of questions regarding Stern’s future—was he fired? Cohen seemed uncertain, saying, “I don’t know how much I can say except that he’s not here. Howard was supposed to start today, but it didn’t go smoothly. Nothing’s pretty about this. I’m just here, winging it.”
Cohen also mentioned he would be stepping in with a new show titled “Andy 100.”
I think it’s worth noting how much Howard has meant to SiriusXM. Cohen pointed out, “He paved the way for us, and I might not be able to completely fill his shoes.”
Stern eventually made his appearance and hinted that it was all a playful act, confirming he was back on Sirius. He explained that he had missed last week’s show due to illness.
In a somewhat exasperated tone, Stern expressed frustration at the responses he received while away. “People were angry. They kept asking if I was okay or if I had been fired,” he said.
He mentioned that a reporter claimed he was let go for being “too awake,” which left Stern bewildered. “I still don’t even know what that means,” he admitted.
It seems that he felt the weight of concern from those around him. “I was sitting at home, and everyone in my circle was checking in: ‘Are you okay?'” he shared.
Stern first debuted his SiriusXM show back in January 2006, following a two-year stint with a satellite radio station.
