Howie Mandel Criticizes Kelly Ripa During Awkward Live TV Incident

Howie Mandel’s Awkward Moment on Live TV

During a recent episode of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” comedian Howie Mandel found himself in a slightly uncomfortable situation with hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. The exchange revolved around his age and appearance, leading to some unexpected back-and-forth banter.

It all started when Consuelos remarked, “You just celebrated your 70th. You’re 70 years old,” to which Ripa chimed in with, “That doesn’t make any sense!” Mandel, however, seemed taken aback by their comments.

“What do you mean, meaningless?” he retorted sharply. Consuelos, eager to diffuse the tension, responded, “That’s wonderful!” But this didn’t sit well with Mandel.

“Do I look nice? That doesn’t mean anything to me!” he snapped, gesturing towards the co-hosts who were trying to reassure him with compliments. Mandel pointedly wagged his finger at Ripa, asserting that such comments signaled a “red flag.”

“If you tell someone you’re 70 years old, they’ll say, ‘You look great…'” he began, but Ripa interrupted, attempting to shift the tone. “We’re not saying you’re going to be great at 70, dear. Look, you’re great!” she said hopefully.

But Mandel was not convinced. He insisted again, “Yes, I’m 70 years old, yes.” Ripa excitedly responded, “No, we say you look so nice, but I can’t believe you’re 70!”

Consuelos, trying to support his wife, leaned toward Mandel and emphasized, “That’s what I’m saying,” while pointing to himself, highlighting how he viewed Mandel as attractive for his age.

Mandel, not holding back, compared the compliments to telling a “stupid person you’re smart.” Declining to let it go easily, he continued to affirm his age and seemed quite aware of the mixed messages being sent.

As the conversation continued, Consuelos reassured him, “No, you look fine,” although it was apparent that the discussion had taken on a life of its own. Finally, overcoming the awkwardness a bit, Mandel quipped, “Let’s be honest, let’s be serious for a second. I’m gorgeous!”
