AJ Brown Stays with Eagles as NFL Trade Deadline Approaches

As the NFL trade deadline draws near, one player who has yet to be moved is AJ Brown. There’s been chatter surrounding the wide receiver and the possibility of his departure from Philadelphia this season.

Ultimately, Brown remains with the Super Bowl champion Eagles. General manager Howie Roseman elaborated on the team’s reasoning on Tuesday when asked about a potential trade.

“It’s challenging to trade a top-tier player when you’re aiming for excellence, and AJ Brown is certainly a top-tier player,” Roseman stated. “He wears the ‘C’ on his jersey for a reason. He’s integral to our team and organization. He genuinely cares about winning and his teammates, and I can’t see us parting ways with someone like that when we’re in a position to compete for a championship.”

This season, through seven games, Brown has recorded 395 receiving yards on 29 receptions, along with three touchdowns. His performance peaked in Week 7, where he rushed for a season-high 121 yards and two touchdowns, despite dealing with a hamstring injury.

There were some concerns regarding Brown’s commitment to remaining in Philadelphia, especially after a game in which he caught just two passes. Following that Week 4 win, he referenced a Bible verse about quietly withdrawing from unwelcoming situations on social media, which sparked discussions.

He later expressed that he was simply feeling “frustrated.” Despite rumors, Brown denied that teammates Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts had spoken about the challenges faced by the offense after the Eagles’ loss to the Giants earlier in October, and sought to clarify this on his social media.

Regardless of the speculation, Brown is set to stay in Philadelphia (currently boasting a 6-2 record), and Rosman seems pleased with this outcome. “We’re really fortunate to have him on our team and we’re looking forward to kicking off the second half of the season with him,” he added.
