A Northern California high school student physically attacked a teacher in a classroom Monday afternoon, district officials said. The student – a minor – was subsequently arrested and the teacher was hospitalized.
Danville Police Department officials reported to Monte Vista High School shortly after 1pm to report the attack on teachers. KTVU-TV reported.
“We ensure that students have the right outcomes.”
The teacher was taken to a local hospital to treat the injury, the station said, but added that the condition of the unknown teacher is not clear.
Police reported that after the initial investigation, a minor student suspected of being involved in the assault was taken into custody and booked at the Contra Costa County Juvenile Hall, KTVU.
Authorities did not show the age or grades of the students, the station added.
Police said they had no additional details to share and that an investigation was underway, KTVU noted.

KNTV-TV reported San Ramon Valley Unified School District Chief CJ Cammack sent the following letter to the community:
Dear srvusd staff and family,
I am writing to inform you of the troublesome incident that occurred today on the Monte Vista High School campus.
This afternoon, during lunch, a Monte Vista student physically attacked one of the teachers in the classroom. The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (SRVFPD) and Danville Police responded quickly, and staff were taken to hospital for medical care. Respect for their privacy, we do not share their names at this time. The person responsible for the attack was identified and removed from campus. We are working with Danville Police in their investigations to ensure that students have the appropriate results implemented in accordance with the policies and regulations of the Education Act. Student and staff safety is a top priority and unsafe or dangerous behavior is not acceptable at any school in Monte Vista or SRVUSD.
We understand that hearing about this incident can be intrusive to students, staff and the community. We want to remind students that they have the option to receive counseling support. If students feel they can benefit from talking to someone, they recommend reaching out to the principal.
This incident does not define the exceptional character and behavior of student organizations at Monte Vista and SRVUSD. As a community, we share a collective responsibility to look after each other and ensure that SRVUSD is a place where everyone is physically and emotionally safe.
