“We want to protect women who enter the HUD facility,” Turner told reporters Thursday, adding, “We want to restore equal rights, but we have no additional rights.” The secretary adds that most women using the HUD shelter already come from a situation of domestic violence, and he wants to ensure their tragedy doesn't get worse by asking the federal government for help.
