LOS ANGELES – When he jumped into the scene two years ago, Hudson Fassing appeared to be part of the Islander's fourth line succession plan.
Now, whether it's time to implement a playoff push, the franchise appears to be about to change this summer, so he's still a factor for the islanders.
“It's definitely a part of that,” posted Saturday, Fassing, who sat in most of January and February with upper body injuries. “It's been a strange year for me, 100%. I still have the ability to contribute to this team and get help. I think I'm just trying to show you the best I can every night. Try to find a way to continue supporting the team.”
After the Brock Nelson trade, the islanders don't have many options for forwards, so Fassing, who played the last five games ahead of Monday's road trip finale, could have a much more stable spot in the lineup.
