Hugh Grant Naps at Wimbledon
Hugh Grant, despite being in one of the prime seats at Wimbledon, managed to doze off during a match between Novak Djokovic and Flavio Koboli on Wednesday.
The 64-year-old actor was caught napping, slumped to one side of his chair, right next to his wife, Anna Elizabeth Aberstein. He tried to shield his eyes with some colorful sunglasses while seated in the royal box, just behind Queen Camilla.
Interestingly enough, he slept through a thrilling match where Djokovic made a comeback to win in four sets. Social media users quickly shared their thoughts, taking notice of Grant’s unexpected nap during such a highly-anticipated event.
One fan expressed frustration, saying, “I give him an eye tooth and a bloody snooze for having his seat.” Another wondered, “Can anyone fall asleep during a tennis match Novak Djokovic plays?”
But it wasn’t all negative—some fans cheekily nudged him with comments like “Wakey Wakey, Hugh.”
Invitations for the Royal Box come directly from the All England Club and follow a strict dress code, which adds a certain level of prestige to the experience.
Earlier in the match, Grant was seen enjoying the atmosphere, chatting and laughing alongside Queen Camilla and his wife, showcasing that he was indeed engaged before settling into his nap.
The tournament drew a star-studded crowd, with other celebrities like Joe Alwyn, Cooper Koch, and Matt Bomer also making appearances. Page 6 reached out to Grant’s representatives for comment on the incident.
