Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife Deborah-Lee Furness has reflected on what she has learned more about herself since the couple split after almost 30 years of marriage.
In September, the 68-year-old actress and 55-year-old actor announced they were separating after 27 years together. In her recent interview with People magazine, Furness spoke about what her hardships over the past year have taught her.
”[I learned] I’m strong and resilient,” Furness said at a screening of her new film, Forces of Nature: The Dry 2.

Speaking to Page Six at the screening, Furness said, “I’ve learned a lot about myself and I’m embracing evolution and growth.”
The Australian admitted her “evolutionary year” was “terrifying” and “every adjective you could ever ask for”.
However, Ms Furness told the media she was “grateful” for the opportunity this had given her for personal growth.
Furness said relying on friends helped her get through difficult times, including her separation from Jackman.
“I say this to all women: Girlfriends are essential in your life,” Furness said.

Furness said Oscar and Eva are “excited” about Forces of Nature: The Dry 2 and have seen the movie “several times already.”
“They are very supportive in any pursuit,” she added. “We all support each other in our artistic pursuits.”
‘Force of Nature: The Dry 2’ is a sequel to 2020’s ‘The Dry’, both directed by Robert Connolly and based on the book by author Jane Harper.
The film stars Eric Bana as a federal police detective, reprising his role from the previous film. Aaron Falk leads the investigation into a case in which five women set out for a remote hiking resort, but only four return.
The film also stars Anna Torv, Robin McCreevey, Cici Stringer, Lucy Ansell and Jacqueline McKenzie.

“I love playing women who are great role models for young girls,” Furness said. “Women are great leaders. … So I like playing women who have something to say.”

“This is the only statement either of us will make,” the statement, signed “Deb and Hugh Jackman,” concludes.
Jackman, who is also Australian, first met Furness on the set of the 10-part Australian TV series Corelli in 1995. At the time, Furness was an established actress in her home country, she won an award for her leading role in the 1988 film Shame, and she had also appeared in several television series and films.
