Wrestling Icon Hulk Hogan Passes Away at 71
Wrestling legend Terry Borea, famously known as Hulk Hogan, has died at the age of 71, according to reports.
Hogan’s career, which spanned over five decades, began in the territorial days of professional wrestling in 1977, with early success in Japan. However, he achieved true superstardom in 1983 with the phenomenon of “Hulkamania,” which turned him into a pop culture icon and a symbol of American patriotism.
The rise of Hogan is often surrounded by controversy. While some argue he achieved success on his own, many believe that a significant part of his fame came from undermining other wrestlers. He infamously played a role in exposing a union effort proposed in the WWF locker room in 1986, which earned him favor with owner Vince McMahon, who ensured Hogan remained the top star.
This dynamic shifted in 1994 when Hogan made the notable move to WCW, securing a deal that allowed him extensive creative control. While this period marked a peak for the company, it also led to its struggles, as Hogan often prevented younger wrestlers from stepping into the spotlight.
After several stints in various promotions, including TNA, Hogan returned to WWE in January 2025 and made a debut on Netflix’s “Monday Night Live.”
Hogan’s legacy is a mix of both fame and infamy, remembered for his significant impact on wrestling and some darker chapters, including his departure from WWE in 2015 amid revelations of past racist remarks.
