Hulk Hogan teases WWE Royal Rumble return

Hulkamania may be out of control again.

WWE tweeted an interesting video on Monday night teasing pro wrestling icon Hulk Hogan's possible return at this Saturday's Royal Rumble.

“The wild card element…you never know who’s going to show up…you never know.” Hogan said pointing to himself.“Maybe it's still inside me.”

While everything in the world of professional wrestling has to be taken with a grain of salt, it's certainly noteworthy that WWE chose to release this video five days before the Royal Rumble.

Perhaps this video is just solid marketing to get some buzz before the event.

Perhaps it's to gauge the potential reaction if WWE wants to throw Hogan into the event.

Whatever the reason, fans may be interested to see if Hogan returns to the ring at Tropicana Field.

The Royal Rumble is a top-level 30-man battle royale that is one of the promotion's top events and always attracts returning fans.

Arguably the most famous wrestler of all time, Hogan is perhaps the biggest surprise entrant in the history of the event.

Professional wrestling wouldn't be what it is today without Hogan, 70, who starred in both WWE (then WWF) and WCW.

Hogan won the third and fourth Royal Rumbles in 1990 and 1991, becoming the first wrestler to win consecutive titles.

Since then, the Royal Rumble has become an event that helps set up one of the two heavyweight championship matches to take place at WrestleMania, and has often been the main event.

CM Punk, who just returned, gambling favorites for the event, according to BetMGM.

Hogan, a six-time WWE Champion, last competed in WWE at SummerSlam in 2006, when he defeated Randy Orton.

Since then, he has appeared in the company, albeit intermittently.

Hogan is not universally accepted, despite his contributions to making pro wrestling a part of mainstream entertainment, due to scandals and behavior outside the ring over the years.
