Hulk Hogan Passes Away at 71
Hulk Hogan, the iconic figure in professional wrestling, died last week in Florida at the age of 71 due to a heart attack, according to officials. He had a well-documented history of heart disease, specifically atrial fibrillation, which is known to cause irregular and rapid heart rates.
Reports indicate that Hogan also suffered from chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a type of cancer that impacts white blood cells.
His sudden passing follows a period where he was rumored to be facing a health crisis. Surprisingly, his wife, Sky Daily Hogan, had previously dismissed these concerns, asserting he was recovering well from surgery. In a heartfelt social media post, she acknowledged that they were dealing with health challenges but genuinely believed they would overcome them. “I was very faithful in his strength. I thought we still had more time,” she shared.
Initial reports from TMZ highlighted that Hogan experienced cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Local authorities confirmed that paramedics were dispatched to his residence early Thursday morning and that he was taken to Morton Plant Hospital following the incident.
Hogan was a monumental figure who helped shape the professional wrestling landscape. He became synonymous with the WWF, now WWE, becoming a significant babyface in the business and securing several world championships. Notably, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, once in 2005 and again in 2020 as part of the New World Order.
In more recent years, he ventured into entrepreneurship by launching Real American Beer, named after his famous walkout music during his wrestling career. He also started a wrestling promotion called Leans American Freestyle in April 2025. While his appearances within WWE became sporadic later in his life, he made a memorable appearance in Los Angeles in January 2025.
Hogan even dabbled in politics, making headlines at both the Republican National Convention and Trump’s campaign rally at Madison Square Garden.
His influence on the wrestling industry is undeniable, and he is credited with paving the way for many wrestling talents today. Following his death, tributes flooded in from across the sports community, including a poignant 10-bell salute during the following episode of “Smackdown!”
