Summer Wedding for Influential Liberals
In a picturesque Hampton setting, Huma Abedin, a former aide to Hillary Clinton, tied the knot with her fiancé, Alex Soros, an investor and the son of billionaire George Soros. The event took place on Saturday at a stunning Southampton property valued at $104.5 million.
Abedin, who is 48 and previously married to Anthony Weiner, 39, exchanged vows with Soros amidst a gathering of politically connected guests. Notable attendees included figures like Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, along with several European leaders associated with Soros’ Open Society Foundation.
A-list guests were expected to travel by helicopter from Manhattan, with the likes of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt likely in attendance.
The celebration followed a rehearsal dinner hosted by Marie Eiffel at Soros’ mother’s home on Shelter Island. How charming is that?
Abedin and Soros became engaged last May after meeting at a birthday bash thrown by James Rothschild for his wife, Nikki Hilton, in the fall of 2023. They celebrated their engagement with a trip to Italy, a romantic venture for sure.
Soros had been single for over a decade before meeting Abedin. He reminisced, saying, “I hadn’t had a relationship for a very long time—it lasted only three months.” I guess sometimes it just takes that right person to realize what you really want.
Abedin mentioned in an interview that their connection brings “a certain degree of stability and comfort”—which, I suppose, makes sense given the shared values between them.
With George Soros’ impressive net worth of $7.2 billion, his contributions to various liberal campaigns, organizations, and causes are well-known.
Earlier this year, the couple sent out emerald green save-the-date cards to friends, announcing their wedding celebration for Saturday, June 14, 2025. Interestingly enough, Anthony Weiner, who shares a 13-year-old son with Abedin, will not be attending the wedding.
