Huma Abedin and Alex Soros Tie the Knot

Huma Abedin and Alex Soros are now officially married, celebrating their union at Soros’ lavish $14.5 million estate in Southampton. For the weekend festivities, the bride selected two custom-made dresses to showcase her style amidst family and friends.

The couple chose to honor both their backgrounds with ceremonies in the Hamptons. Abedin, who practices Islam, included traditional elements such as the signing of a Nika and a Ketubah in their ceremonies, which was meaningful for them both.

Abedin donned a stunning gown designed by Erdem for one of the events and a classic Givenchy dress crafted by Sarah Burton for the larger celebration. The Givenchy dress, described as off-shoulder and reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn, featured delicate silk satin and intricate buttons along the back. “I can’t believe how light it feels,” Abedin shared during her final dress fitting, revealing that their initials were subtly hidden in the embroidery. “I needed a dress that said ‘she looks extraordinary’ as she embraces her new role as a wife.”

Her other gown, an ethereal creation from Erdem, left her in awe. Abedin recalled falling in love with the label years ago while working in Washington, D.C. She noted how supportive the design process was, especially after sharing personal memories related to her father, who passed away in 1993—a sentiment reflected in her gowns.

Moral Oor, the designer, revealed that he presented her with various inspirations, including iconic designs like Grace Kelly’s wedding dress, which contributed to the final look. “Seeing the finished dress took my breath away,” she explained. “It’s everything we envisioned—elegant and quietly powerful.”

Close friend and editor Anna Wintour from Vogue offered her help in selecting Abedin’s wedding attire, a fitting gesture given their close friendship. Attendees at the wedding included notable figures such as Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton. In a twist, Soros encouraged the couple to opt for a full ceremony instead of a simple elopement, emphasizing the importance of such a gathering for Abedin and their loved ones.

Reflecting on their relationship, Abedin, 48, and Soros, 39, first met at a 2023 birthday bash for the Rothschilds. Their engagement in June 2024 came shortly after making their relationship public on Valentine’s Day. Sources have noted how the couple represents a modern, American version of royalty, aligning smoothly with the world Abedin has navigated. Previously, she was married to politician Anthony Weiner, and during the wedding, Abedin wore an ivory gown designed by Oscar de la Renta.
